Do you snore? Are you tired all the time?
Snoring and daytime sleepiness or fatigue can be a sign of obstructive sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea occurs when your airway collapses temporarily during sleep preventing the flow of air from reaching your lungs. Depending on how long the apnea lasts, the level of oxygen in your bloodstream can drop resulting in your body trying to ‘wake-up’ enough to allow the airflow to start again.
Many people who suffer from obstructive sleep apnea wake up gasping for air or experience heart palpitations, commonly experience restless sleep and regular trips to the bathroom during the night.
If left untreated, sleep apnea significantly increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, depression, anxiety, obesity, road collisions and workplace accidents.
Sleep apnea can also take a toll on relationships when those around you don’t get the rest they need.
How do I know if I have Sleep Apnea or is it just Snoring?
